Mussanje Maathu Kannada Movie Review

Mussanje Maathu is sure to bring in warmth to the hearts of the audience and moist the eyes. The film is an emotional saga narrated in a neat fashion. The experiment of new looks and a stylish hair do by actor Sudeep and his touching performance is the major highlight of this film. The songs laced with melody is another appealing factor that makes this film totally different from the many nondescript gangster and violent films that are hitting the Kannada film industry these days.

Debutant director Mahesh makes Mussanje Maathu a thoroughly enjoyable film with his neat handling of a sensitive and offbeat subject. A neatly packaged film with high voltage emotions, extraordinary performances and lilting songs with well written lyrics, Mahesh should be complimented for directing this clean and likeable film in his first attempt.

Story wise Mussanje Maathu does not boast of a very strong story line, but even this thin story makes a strong impact on screen because of the incidents relating to Radio Jockey's programme are narrated in a refined and touching manner. And the performances of some top artists like Sudeep, Ramya, Anu Prabhakar and Ramesh Bhat take the film to greater heights of appeal. However Mahesh shows little immaturity in handling the film's so called comedy sequences which fail to make impact. And some of the situations in the film look repetitive which reduces the desired impact. A little bit of editing and sharpening of sequences may still make the film a little more attractive.

The story revolves around a good hearted Radio Jockey Pradeep who anchors an evening programme in a channel. Through his programme he is able to solve problems of many people and he is also able to provide emotional relief to the affected people with his positive interaction. Tanu has been emotionally ravaged after losing her mother and deserted by her father comes from her native place to take refuge in her friend's house in the city. Tanu also reveals her trauma in one of the programmes. She accidentally meets Pradeep and they become friends. Pradeep brings a big change in her attitude to life and even unites her with her reformed father. Both Pradeep and Tanu hide their inner feelings with each other. And then Tanu's marriage is arranged by her father. Finally everything is resolved in a gripping climax.

Sudeep comes out in flying colours with his matchless performance. He underplays the emotions but does lend his extra ordinary voice to heighten the impact of many sequences. He looks extremely tylish and young with his new hair cut and spectacles. Ramya performs top class in many sequences and certainly the film will be remembered as one of her best films. Equally brilliant is Anu Prabhakar who scores in many emotional sequences of the film. Veteran actors Ramesh Bhat and Sumithra are equally impressive.

Veteran Sundaranath Suvarna is extremely competent in picturising song sequences. Sridhar's music composition is extra ordinary with songs like Ninna Nodalentho, Enaagali Mundhe Saagali and Kaddalu Manasanna which are sure to remain in top of the charts. The choreography of these songs are effective.

Mussanje Maathu is a well made film which may appeal to all segments because of a high degree of emotional content and refined performances from artists!

Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu Kannada Movie

Director: Veera Shankar
Producer: Aditya Arts
Starring: Aditya Babu, Ramya, Harish.
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Gurukiran

Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu Movie Review

Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu directed by Veerashankar who has made a Kannada film Namma Basava with Puneet Raj Kumar, is a launch vehicle for Adithya Babu who has also produced the film. It is the remake of Telugu film Aadavari Matalaki Ardhale Verule, starring Venkatesh and Trisha and directed by Selvaraghavan.

The original family entertainer did not boast of a great story, but its presentation was much appreciated. But the producer and director of the film had shamelessly claimed that AIPB was supposedly based on Telugu novel Anandamanandamaayee, though they had no qualms of admitting its source later. To be frank, Veerashankar has made some changes and has introduced a few characters like that of Rangayana Raghu, but other than that he has not been able to get the right impact from this film.

Veerashankar had said that he had made some changes to suit the nativity here, but it has not reflected in the film. He has more or less followed the original script written by Raghava. And Music director Guru Kiran who has so many original tunes for his credit has just lifted the tunes of the original Telugu film.

The story revolves around software professionals and it has been linked to the family. Except the introduction of Rangayana Raghu’s character, the story remains the same as in the original film.

Adithya Babu has put in efforts to do a good job in the film, but he has been uneven. In some of the sequences he is really found wanting, but he seems to have come out of this groove later in the emotional sequences. He has to improve over his emotional side of performance. Ramya could have put in some more efforts to look convincing in this role. But she looks extremely glamorous in songs. Veteran artists Lokanath, Sreenivasa Murthy, Harish, Mandya Ramesh have acquitted in their respective roles comfortably.

Venu’s camera work is the highlight. Since the tunes have been lifted from original Telugu film, it is only Guru Kiran’s background track which can come under scrutiny.

But editing could have been a little better.

A neat film that can be recommended for family audience.

Bombaat Kannada Movie

Cast: Ganesh, Ramya
Direction: Rajendra Babu
Production: Rockline Venkatesh
Music: Mano Murthy

Bombaat Movie Review

Lover boy Golden star Ganesh with series of hits to his credit turns action hero from this 'Bombaat'. His much loved dialogue is rather harsh in this film but he plays the role with lot of intelligence is what gives pleasant surprise to the audience. Instead of making it a full length action cinema director D.Rajendra Babu has efficiently drawn the screenplay with mother sentiment and responsibility of citizens. How the audience would take up the sudden change in the characterization of Ganesh? We have wait for some days to know the result.

The story of this film appears to have been lifted from various films is a war against muscle and influential on the one side and honest youngster with police support on the opponent side. The result is as expected.

Firstly it is taming of shrew kind of job for Anand (Ganesh). Shalini (Ramya) the foreign returned MBA graduate daughter of police commissioner (played by Avinash) on three occasions sees Anand in public places behaving like a rowdy. She wants him to be behind the bars and seeks her father's help. Anand is put behind the bars only at the behest of Shalini but released soon. The police commissioner knows pretty well that Anand is a good guy. On all the three occasions he has helped the police in nabbing the culprits. So he had to trash criminals in the public place.

With such an introduction the director moves on to the camp of bad guys. Gajendra, Dasa, Adhi – all mischievous people are ruling the state from their power. The politicians and police are puppet in front of them. Adhi of the gruesome trio has fallen flat to police commissioner daughter Shalini and he wants to get married to her. In a rude and shocking style the police commissioner house is invaded by the trio for engagement of Shalini and Adhi. So far so good the turn of events is miserable for Shalini and her father.

The clever boy Anand strikes the mind of police commissioner and Shalini is brought to his house for one month of safe stay. Anand who is powerful in his muscles and brainy too accepts the offer of police commissioner. The trio follows Anand and a truce is worked out. Anand promises to send Shalini after one month and he makes the trio to believe him. In the one month time Anand makes some calculative moves and dislodge the unity in trio. The divide and rule policy he adopts works out because he has the police force behind him.

After uprooting everyone what is it the net result for Anand? He gets his mother wish of 14 years fulfilled. Anand's father a treacherous rowdy has caused worries to the people. This is not liked by Anand's mother. She goes for isolation only to return seeing her son in the law abiding police officer uniform.

Ganesh has been very quick in action scenes and lot of stunts he has done – on air for quite sometime thrill his fans. He is out from regular pattern of his six earlier quality box office films. He is too good in romance with lovely looking Ramya. Except romancing with Ganesh the talented Ramya has nothing much to do. While Vinayaprasad is close in a room to see her son as cop Ramya is also kept in room after she comes to Anand house.

Avinash is apt as Police Commissioner. Rahul Roy, Mukeshi Rish, Gurudutt, Adhi Lokesh add good support.

Music mantrik Mano Murthy gives two lovely tunes for which the lyrics are also well written. Shekar Chandru gives the pleasant treat for the eyes. The slow motion shot where Ganesh goes on the air with soda bottles surrounding him in the action scene is well captured.

A good treat for family audience!
